CONNOR CHRISTIAN AND SOUTHERN GOTHIC HONOR EARTH DAY WITH CONVERSION TO BIO-DIESEL CCSG to Perform at Atlanta’s Dogwood Festival This Saturday April 18
Atlanta, GA—How does an eco-friendly touring band survive on the road? They turn their gas-guzzling van into a cleaner bio-diesel model.
Following in the footsteps of acts such as Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews and Neil Young, Atlanta based Connor Christian and Southern Gothic (CCSG) felt the need to offset their carbon emissions and turn their “home” into a cleaner and more earth-friendly van. As professional touring musicians, it can be very difficult for the road-warriors to do their part. But by offsetting their carbon emissions and changing the way their van is fueled, CCSG travel in good conscience by knowing they are helping the Earth.
"As a group, we try to hold each other responsible for the views we go out and express every night on stage, and the van was one little thing that we could all do together to work towards one of those ideals, which is a greener way of living and doing business,” said Connor. “We're to the point where we're touring so much, and our crew is getting so big we're going to have to pass this one on to someone else, and maybe we can retro-fit a tour bus the same way, that would be really cool. We're just trying to hold ourselves to a little higher standard."
This week as Earth Day is being celebrated everywhere on Saturday, April 18, CCSG are performing at the Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park that day. For more information, please visit http://www.dogwood.org/ or http://www.connorchristian.com/
About Connor Christian and Southern Gothic: Connor Christian and Southern Gothic make a heartfelt statement with their music that can be found at the crossroads of roots rock and Americana. Recently CCSG charted high on the AMA Americana Radio Airplay Chart, on the AMA Internet Radio Airplay Chart, as well as on the Roots Music Report - Roots Rock chart, and Georgia Roots Radio chart. In addition, 90 Proof Lullabies was the most added album to Americana radio two weeks in a row on March 9 and March 16. Christian and his band continue to tour the Southeast region in support of their latest album, 90 Proof Lullabies, as the buzz continues to spread.
Equal parts modern troubadour, back road poet and outlaw rocker, Christian creates gritty, soulful songs of experience revealing solace in hardship, hope in destitution, and a dustbowl sensibility. The follow-up to 2007’s A Southern Gothic, 90 Proof Lullabies (released March 10) is powerful musical fare that draws on influences ranging from Ryan Adams, G. Love, and Counting Crows to The Band and Tumbleweed Connection-era Elton John.
