About Farmer Jason
Farmer Jason is the family music character created by alt-country
legend and 30 year entertainment industry veteran Jason Ringenberg.
As the front man and founder of Jason and the Scorchers, Ringenberg
was the original pioneer in the movement that combined traditional
American roots music with modern punk rock. The first two Jason and
the Scorchers records regularly turn up on critics’ Best of the 80’s
lists, and they have an exhibit dedicated to them in the Country
Music Hall of Fame. They received the Americana Music Association’s
Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance in 2008. With Jason and
the Scorchers and as a solo artist he has released 14 major records
and performed over 3000 shows.
In 2003, Ringenberg decided to record a children’s cd called A DAY
AT THE FARM WITH FARMER JASON solely for his young daughters to
listen to. Filled with hilariously catchy songs about guitar pickin’
chickens and rock ‘n’ roll tractors, the peak of his ambition for it
was to hear his daughters singing along. To his surprise, the cd
became a family music hit that year and LOTS of little sons and
daughters were singing along! Soon Farmer Jason was doing concerts
all over the world. ROCKIN’ IN THE FOREST WITH FARMER JASON (Warner
Brothers) followed in 2006. In 2008, in partnership with Nashville
Public Television, Jason created an educational video program called
IT’S A FARMER JASON which won an Emmy Award and now airs on several
PBS stations around the US. A dvd featuring the program was released
in 2009.
Farmer Jason also writes a column about eco
friendly farm and gardening issues for the Tennessee organic food
magazine LOCAL TABLE called ASK FARMER JASON. For more information
on that, please visit

Having been born and raised on an Illinois hog farm that bordered
the Rock Island Line, he now lives with his wife Suzy, their three
daughters, and a menagerie of animals on a small farm in rural
Tennessee.
