Pittsburgh, PA—When a singer/songwriter delivers an organic, bare-bones album of material, that bar for the songs is already set incredibly high.  But when you have the velvety voice and breezy melodies of Pittsburgh’s Heather Kropf, that task is already much easier.  And in the case of Kropf’s latest effort, Hestia, it’s the simple beauty of each track that makes it a must-listen. 

Influenced by a wide range of artists including Aimee Mann, Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Paul Simon and Sarah McLachlan, Kropf’s unique sound is a unique mix of piano folk, blue-eyed soul and coffeehouse pop.  With a warm and inviting vocal tone, Kropf has become a fixture on the Pittsburgh live music circuit with a loyal fan base over the last decade, honing her craft along the way.   

“I wanted to record something that bridged my full-band studio recordings with my live, solo performance,” says Kropf.  “Something that resonated with the quieter core of my songwriting but still had some polish.”

Born into a Mennonite family in the Pacific Northwest, Kropf grew up on A Cappella singing. After studying classical piano and fine art, her interests took a more popular turn as she began focusing on songwriting while working at powerhouse independent AAA radio station WYEP. In 2000 she released her first self-produced album, Sky. In 2005 her critically acclaimed follow-up effort, What Else is Love, was called a “musical masterpiece” by Pittsburgh Magazine.
