January 2014 Newsletter

So we can marvel at how fast time flies and then vow to make sure we make the best of every moment, but in reality very few of us remember to do that. And that’s especially true in our plugged-in world as we enter 2014. I mean, how many times a day do you find yourself trying to keep up with e-mail, social media, or texting, often all at the same time? Well, once again I’m vowing right now to live more in the moment in 2014, even though I know it will mostly likely be a futile attempt. The effort is the key, right? What are you hoping to accomplish in 2014? If you feel inclined, please let us know, and maybe we will use the replies in a future newsletter.

At the same time, as I look back at the Michael J. Media 2013 that was, I can honestly say it was the best year we’ve had in many ways. And there is no reason to believe that 2014 won’t also be great. So thanks for listening and for supporting our clients; and Happy New Year to you all!

We’re going to start posting clients’ new videos here each month and we’ll start with Jeff Campbell’s appearance last month on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Enjoy!

New Clients and New Releases

Wyatt Easterling Long-time industry veteran Wyatt Easterling has spent a good part of his career as a successful songwriter, producer and as the head of A&R for a major label. But it’s often when those such as Easterling step out of the shadows as artists themselves that true music fans are rewarded. Such is the case with Easterling’s latest effort, Goodbye-Hello, due for release February 25 on his own Phoenix Rising Records. The album features eleven original songs that speak to love and loss, honoring the past, and a changing outlook on life and on the future. www.wyatteasterling.com

Rosco Bandana--Gulfport, MS based band Rosco Bandana has the distinction of being the first band signed to Hard Rock Records, and they have had quite a year in 2013, one they plan to build on with plenty of touring in 2014. Their latest single, “Woe is Me,” was featured on ABC’s Body of Lies, and the video for the song was featured on the CMT Pure 12 Pack countdown for three straight months based on fan voting. They toured with FUN., performed at Turner Field following a Braves game, and made festival appearances at Yonder Mountain Harvest Fest, Summer Camp and Lollapalooza. www.roscobandana.com

Johnny Beauford "I love recording things the instant I write them": That's a sentiment that might strike fear in the hearts of many musicians, but Johnny Beauford welcomes the challenge. The singer-songwriter is employing this sense of spontaneity on his new sophomore set, A Pig Eating Past Love, which is set for release January 14. Beauford who has made considerable waves in the Americana and local Texas music scene both as a solo artist and as part of bands the Jack Kerowax and bravo, max!, considers his daring process an integral element in his much-lauded, narrative songwriting. www.johnnybeauford.com

Nate Jones 2013 proved to be a game-changer for singer/songwriter/guitarist Nate Jones, who spent a good part of the year forging his first cross-country tour and recording his debut full-band release, The Nate Jones Band EP. The EP is set for release in February 2014, and Jones is also hoping a move to San Francisco from Cleveland, Ohio will help him to continue spreading his wings as a singer and songwriter. www.reverbnation.com/njonesmusic
