NORTHEAST OHIO ROCKER BRIAN LISIK TO RELEASE FIRST-EVER VINYL ONLY LIVE ALBUM FOR RECORD STORE DAY
The Limited Release Goodnight, Detroit to Coincide with Live In-Store Performance at Hollow Bone Records on Saturday, April 12
AKRON, OH (March 14, 2025) – No matter how careful and calculated the attempt, creating spontaneity can be the most ephemeral and challenging task when making a rock-n-roll record. Ultimately though, it should also be the most important. In a career that is in some ways defined by its spontaneity, Ohio-based rocker Brian Lisik has captured the proverbial lighting in a bottle with his latest release, Goodnight, Detroit – a limited-edition Record Store Day 2025 vinyl release of a summer 2024 show at Trixie’s Bar in Hamtramck, Michigan.

In the spirit of classic live-records-not-necessarily-intended-to-be-live-records, like Aerosmith’s “Live! Bootleg,” Jerry Lee Lewis “Live at the Star Club, Hamburg” and The Replacements “The Shit Hits The Fans,” the 12 song Goodnight, Detroit is an unvarnished and incendiary 45-minute trek through Lisik’s most high-octane tunes – kicking off with the sledgehammer groove of “Another Friday Night” from the 2016 Brian Lisik and the Unfortunates release “We’re Sorry…” and keeping the foot on the gas through the sweaty end of “Billy The Kid,” from his most recent studio release, 2023’s “Nu Wreckard.”
Backed admirably by the stripped down combo of Gerard Dominick on bass and Craig Lisik on drums, Goodnight, Detroit is a far from flawless outing. Rather, the fortuitous presence of co-producer Sean Anthony Sullivan and a modicum of recording gear at the show results in an entirely present listening experience. A night out at a small suburban Detroit bar, crowd noise and clinking glasses included, with a smoking threesome smoking the stage before packing up and hitting the road, headed for its next village to sack.
Goodnight, Detroit is live. It’s spontaneous. It’s real. For a rock-n-roll record, anything less would be diabolical.
Brian Lisik and his band will be celebrating the release of Goodnight, Detroit with a Record Store Day performance April 12 at 12:30 p.m. at Hollow Bone Records, 2721 W. Market St. Akron, Oh. www.hollowbonerecords.com
